About Bubblegum Head Wood Works LLC

Bubblegum Head Wood Works is the passion-driven brainchild of Nate Schultz, a proud U.S. Army combat veteran. After serving in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division, Nate turned to woodworking as a way to reconnect with purpose and creativity.

What began as a personal outlet quickly grew into a calling. Nate now handcrafts wooden American flags that reflect the spirit of service, pride, and resilience. Every piece is shaped, carved, and finished by hand with careful attention to detail. No two flags are ever the same.

Our Process

The process starts with carefully selected wood that is cut to size and prepped. For wavy flags, Nate carves the waves into the surface by hand, a process that takes between 8 to 10 hours. Each wave is shaped with care to give the flag movement and depth.

The stars are carved one by one using a Dremel tool, which allows for fine control and authentic detail. No two flags are exactly alike. Burn patterns, grain lines, and natural imperfections all play a role in making each piece unique.

After carving, each flag is sanded, stained, burned, and sealed to create a bold finish that highlights the character of the wood. The final result is not just a flag. It is a handcrafted piece of American pride built to last.
